Zanzinet 8th Anniversary

Internet Zanzibar , ZanzibarNet, or ZANZINET as we have come to know it so much, began operations 8 years ago on the island of Zanzibar , in a small office in the Shangani domain. Zanzinet took over from what was then known Internet Zanzibar, and transformed the way networking and ICT in general is viewed within the islands.

Zanzinet, through intense pressure and sleepless nights, has emerged and transformed the then virgin Internet business industry in the islands by providing fast, reliable, secure links to the Internet in the Islands of Pemba and Zanzibar .

Back in 1997, when the company was just beginning, to most the definition of Internet services was unclear. Zanzinet started out serving remote access to the Internet (dialup), by employing the widely deployed telephone network to serve its majority of clients. Later radio waves, wireless, have been implemented to increase Quality of Service (QoS) and more secure links to the Internet with as minimum cost as possible.

Currently Zanzinet is celebrating 8 years in the business, with enhanced network connectivity and coverage. Zanzinet also introduces applications that inject directly into the society and enriches business throughput.
